Local Restriction Support Grants - Who can apply for this grant?
• Business Rate Payers. (If you receive a Business Rates bill you are a Business Rate Payer even if your bil is NIL.)
• Certain businesses that have had to close for the period of the lockdown from the 16th February 2021 to 31st March 2021.
There is no upper limit on the rateable value of business premises for this fund.
Additional Restrictions Grant.
For the purpose of this scheme the Council has decided that the follow eligibility criteria must be met in order to receive an Additional Restriction Grant:
(a) Businesses must demonstrate how they have been severely impacted;
(b) Businesses with high fixed business costs whether that be rent, rates, lease/hire purchase costs, insurance, franchise payments or other costs that they would not save by not trading and;
(c) Any business failing to meet the criteria or failing to provide sufficient information to determine whether they meet the criteria will not be awarded a grant.
(d) Businesses that qualified and were paid an Additional Restrictions Grant covering the national restrictions to 15 February, will receive a further payment plus a one off top up award.
(e) Businesses that qualified and have received payment under the Local Restrictions Support Grant (Closed) Addendum during national restrictions to 31 March, will receive a one off top up award.
The following businesses will be prioritised:
(a) Retail, Hospitality, Travel, Leisure and Events sector including those that supply those sectors;
(b) Nurseries in receipt of Business Rates nursery discount;
(c) Bed and Breakfast premises which pay Council Tax instead of Business Rates;
(d) Regular Market/Street Traders who do not have their own Business Rates assessment;
(e) Self-employed with no recourse to the Self Employed Income Support Scheme (SEISS);
To make an online claim you will need to provide details about the business, this could be:
• Your business rate account reference
• Your Company Registration Number (CRN) if applicable
• Your VAT Registration Number if applicable
• Bank account details
• You will be required to submit evidence to support your claim
Businesses will be required to confirm that all of these criteria apply when making an application. Action will be taken should an application be found to be deliberately false and/or fraudulent.
Businesses must not be in administration, insolvent or subject to a striking off notice.
All applications will be validated and a determination made as to whether the business is eligible for a grant and how much. Payment will be made as soon as practical after the assessment has been made.
